Renegades by Marissa Meyer is such a great book. If you like superhero stories, like Marvel or DC, look no further. This story has it all. Action, superheroes, villains, mystery, romance, comedy all packed into 500 pages of awesomeness.
The story follows two main characters, Nova and Adrian. Nova, a villain with a deep hatred burning inside her. Adrian, a righteous hero who believes in justice. The two find themselves in an intricate dance of keeping their secrets at bay.
Renegades is painful to read. There were so many moments when all I wanted to do was scream at the characters. Marissa Meyer keeps you deep in the story with suspense and a whole lot of mystery.
The book is well written, with great description. I found myself in awe at some of the ways Marissa Meyer was able to describe a character or setting. I had a little trouble at the start getting past the fact that the book switches perspectives between Adrian and Nova, but once I got into the story it didn’t bother me at all. At times it’s difficult to follow what’s going on since sometimes there’s multiple chapters for one character before the perspectives switch. I decided to take a few notes during my reading because it made it so much easier to remember what had happened last.
Overall, Renegades by Marissa Meyer is a great book filled with my favourite genres; mystery, romance, comedy and action. It may be difficult to follow the story at times but if you can get past that, it is such a great story. If you haven’t read Renegades yet, add it to your must read list.
