Dear Starry-Eyed Romantic,
You can have bad hair days. You can be late to that appointment. You can sleep in. It’s okay. Not every waking moment needs to be productive, or perfect. For goodness sake! We spend a third of our lives asleep anyways. Give yourself a break. This is all part of your rare and unique human experience.
There doesn’t always need to be an accomplishment or a lesson. That’s the beauty of being present. Things can go sideways; You could be late for work, missing a deadline, and on the verge of a breakdown, and yet there is solace in this constant – you’re human. It doesn’t need to be explained or quantified. You live it, and so, not only is it real, it’s valid.
You’re only human. 🫀

stop it
stop being so silly
you’re stunning, and beautiful, and pretty
if only you could see what i see
your kindness, intelligence, and honesty
the emphasis you place on loyalty
you’re overflowing with creativity and passion
love, when you walk in a room all i picture is;
lights, camera, action
we don’t see you how you see yourself — picking apart every detail
i don’t see your flyaway hairs or pimples or sweat stains or tears as flaws
love, you’ve got it all
entire galaxies colliding in your irises
when you laugh i swear your guardian angel silences
i love you
always have, and always will
chin up, beautiful

This week I’ve been getting back into regularly sharing my poems on @tayashokkerwriter. And I’ve been choosing to give myself a lot more forgiveness for inconsistencies. I forgot to post a poem… okay, and? Did the world stop turning? No. It’s okay. Did sleeping in a bit longer than I intended because I was tired cause the world to end? No. Let this be a little reminder that you are more insignificant than you think, which is as much terrifying as it is freeing🪽
