About
Taya Shokker (she/her) is a South Asian-Canadian writer, intersectional feminist, self-published author, athlete, and student from Vancouver, BC. She’s studying psychology, gender and women’s studies, and archaeology at Simon Fraser University. She’s passionate about human rights, equal opportunity, and the environment. She loves music, the ocean, and books. Her poetry book supernova is available on Amazon. And her podcast Always Mid-Sentence is available on several platforms.

Taya graduated from École Salish Secondary with her Double Dogwood Diploma (French Immersion) in 2022 and DELF Certificate. She completed her secondary schooling in four years thanks to the support of her teachers, school counsellor, and good friends. After attending summer school online during covid, and taking another class remotely, she took her requirements in grade eleven and graduated.

June of 2022 Taya signed her first semi-professional football contract with Altitude FC in League1BC.

Taya has captained a total of three seasons, on two separate youth teams. She’s a team player, enjoying every moment of leading her team despite the struggles and setbacks each season brought. One of her coaches said to her, “You would run through a brick wall if they asked you to.”
Taya’s passion for writing and feminism inspired this blog. She hopes to positively impact the world through sharing her experiences, thoughts, and ideas. She continues to work on her Resource Library project with the hope of inspiring others to learn, question, grow, and engage thoughtfully with ideas that promote equality, compassion, intellectual curiosity, and social justice.
