Legend by Marie Lu is an incredible story about two people from different worlds coming together. The story is fast paced and Marie Lu does a phenomenal job building suspense and anticipation. I couldn’t put this book down.

The story follows Day and June. Day is the most wanted criminal of the Republic. Whereas June is the most beloved of the Republic. Due to unfortunate circumstances, both characters find themselves in their own mental and emotional battles to do the right thing. But just like in the real world, everything isn’t so black and white.

I would recommend this story to anyone who is willing to cry, laugh and cry some more over a book. This story rips your heart out and then tries to smooth things over with some hilarious jokes. Marie Lu did an amazing job of bringing together romance, action and mystery into a spectacular story. It has just the right amount of comedy and seriousness. It’s so easy to get attached to these characters, so prepare for some heartache! If you’re a fan of dystopian books, this one is perfect. The story is set in the United States but where the land has been divided into the Republic of America and the Colonies of America.

It’s so easy to get lost in this crazy world with two different points of view. The story switches between June and Day constantly, which I thought was going to cause confusion, but instead made this book that much more suspenseful and interesting. You get to see what breaks us, what brings us together, what is consistent within us and how we’re each different. If you have not read this book yet, I highly recommend that you pick it up right away.

Official Synopsis:

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbours. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
